Kusakabe "Aqyla" Medium- Retarder 200ml

AQYLA Retarder is a type of medium that is specially designed for AQYLA paints.
Slightly mixing the medium with AQYLA to slow down the drying process, this will help the paint to stretch better and create a nicer gradient.

・Can be mixed directly with AQYLA
・A maximum of 20% of the mixture is recommended
・Mixing too much of the medium will slow down the drying process and make the paint stickier for a longer time

What is AQYLA?

Pure colors

AQYLA is free of extenders and is generous in its use of the latest, high-performance pigments to bring out the true beauty of the pigments.

Dries quickly and cures slowly

Like in watercolors, the water in the paint evaporates quickly so you can go over it in less time. It also cures more slowly than acrylic paints making it less soluable in water over time rendering it water resistant in approximately one and a half months.

Can be used on a variety of surfaces

AQYLA can be used to paint on a wide range of surfaces including paper, canvas, wood, glass, metal, ceramics, and some plastics*.

Can be used with other paints

Although a water-based paint, AQYLA is highly compatible with oil colors giving you a free hand to paint over oil colors.*1
AQYLA can also be used over a range of other paints including acrylics, transparent watercolors and gouache.*2

*1 Do not mix AQYLA with oil colors or other types of paints. When using it with oil colors, thin it out using water.
*2 We do not recommend using acrylics and transparent water colors over the top of AQYLA.
